It is our mission to produce healthy and sound Biewer puppies and to stay true to what Mr and Mrs Biewer
intended for this line. To that end, the following must be adhered to in order to remain in, or be accepted into,
The Biewer Breed Club International.
- To provide full disclosure of any and all genetic abnormalities in the line, including appropriate pedigrees,
in order to facilitate research in avoiding the passage of these defects.
- Appropriate screening tests to be done that all puppies sold for pet or breeding use do not harbour genetic
diseases. A random bile acid test to be done with follow up fasting testing if ANY abnormality.
- Medical clearance including fecal for parasites and evaluation of patellar luxations prior to sale and
shipment.
- Shipment of puppies shall not occur before 10 weeks for German born puppies and 12 weeks for American
born puppies, to avoid episodes of potentially fatal hypoglycemia.
- Breeders will agree to advise the club if they produce a liver shunt puppy. They agree to provide the
pedigrees of the mother and father. The breeder further agrees to NEVER breed the same sire and dam
together again. The siblings of the affected puppies should be neutered or spade and sold as pets. If siblings
were sold prior to breeder knowledge of the shunt, every effort should be made to encourage the new
owner NOT to breed these puppies.
- Permanent identification, other than DNA testing, is not mandatory, but left to the breeders discretion.
DNA identification is mandatory.
- Tail docking is not permitted. Dew claws may or may not be removed at owners discretion.
- Breeders found to be in violation of any of these terms, will be subject to disciplinary action and the
possibility of being removed from the club.
